Can I get basic cable in another room with current COX package

Question

I currently have the Silver Bundle with Cox. I just got a TV to put in one of the back bedrooms. I don't want anything fancy, I just want to get basic cable in this room. At previous apartments, I've been able to hook up my TV with a coax cable and then Auto Search for channels. This hasn't worked yet. Am I missing a step?

Depending where you live, perhaps. Cox is transitioning to an all digital encrypted service. All TVs will need at least a cable card or Mini-box STB. Not all areas have completed this transition yet.

Hi caitlinkenner, you may have an outlet that is not connected. Try the new TV on a cable coming from a wall outlet that you know is working.
