available cable boxes in Tucson, Az area
I currently have the Explorer 8240 HD DVR. I would like to upgrade my cable box to one of the ones listed on the Cox website, either the 4642 or the 8642 ( not sure if the 4642 is a DVR or not). I'm not interested in the Contour boxes at this time. My problem is, non of the representatives can tell me if this box is available in the Tucson area or if the 4642 or the 8642 cables boxes are the Contour boxes. I'm getting all this information from the Cox website, I just don't understand how the representatives don't know this information.
I'm currently interested in increasing the storage space for my DVR and improving the capabilities of my current box.

DVRs not running Contour will be limited to whatever is in stock
Best bet is to go to a Cox Solutions Store
DVR's running Rovi and not Contour are:

The 4642HDC is not a DVR. All Cisco DVR model numbers begin with an "8."
The 8642HDC is a DVR. The 8642 has a 500GB HDD, compared to 160GB on your 8240HDC.
The 8642HDC runs on the Contour IPG (but I hear some areas have it on Rovi's Passport.) The 8240 is Rovi Passport only.
I have the 8642HDC running the Contour IPG (for over three years) and like it very much.
