Alternatives to Contour?
I had Contour installed over a month ago with CISCO 4742HDC. I hate it. Slow, sluggish and can't even delete all channels at once to add just ones I prefer.
I need an alternative to Contour please!

What type of alternative? Do you still need whole home DVR access? Or are you looking to a alternative to the online streaming portion of Contour? Maybe ask Cox about coming out and switching you from Contour to normal whole home DVR? Though to be honest, I have heard even more problems with that then Contour.

TiVo Roamio and a CableCARD (and Tuning Adapter) from Cox is what you want. Try it for 30 days and see for yourself.
https://www.tivo.com/shop/roamio
You pay one price for the Hardware (DVR) - 4 or 6 Tuners
And you also pay TiVo monthly for service - $14.99/mo or get Lifetime for $400 if you use the PLSR code when activating. Otherwise the 1st TiVo DVR is $500 for Lifetime service.
I suggest you purchase at Amazon or get BestBuy to price match Amazon, If after 30 days you do not aggre cancel and take it back, I think you will be sold.
You can easily upgrade the HDD to 3TB, by simply replacing it with a new HDD and rebooting
TiVo Roamio 4 Tuner - 500GB 75Hrs HD - upgradable to 3TB

TiVo Roamio Plus (w/ built in Stream & MoCA) 6 Tuner - 1TB, 150 Hr HD - upgradable to 3TB
TiVo Roamio Pro (w/ built in Stream & MoCA) 6 Tuner - 3TB, 450Hrs HD

AFAIK, all WHDVRs now use Trio (Contour.) The 8642 is no longer being pushed with Passport. The only Passport DVRs - the 8240HDC or 8300 - do not support MoCA.

Biffo, what exactly are you finding to be sluggish?

Sluggish as guide scrolling and channel surfing.
Seems only way to get the performance I am looking for is through cablecard and windows media center piped through HDMI to TV. I've done that before with much satisfaction plus turning on and off CC's just a matter of hitting mute button.
