I wish cox would map the HD channels for third party devices like they do for tier own equipment.

What do you mean? I don't know how mapping would be different since the channel numbers in your TiVo guide would need to match those in our channel lineup for your area.

The channel lineup pdf for Omaha has this listed at the bottom
If you have an HD-capable television connected via a Cox mini box, you will be able to view TV Starter and TV Essential channels in High Definition by tuning to either the two-digit or three-digit Standard Definition channel or the corresponding HD Channel in the 1000-series range. For example, with a mini box, The Weather Channel may be viewed in HD on either channel 43 or channel 1043 (the Weather Channel numbers in your market may be different). If your television is connected via equipment other than a mini box, such as a Cox HD receiver or a Cox provided CableCARD together with a CableCARD compatible retail device (and a Cox-provided Digital Tuning Adaptor for certain channels), programming is available in high definition only at the HD Channel position — typically the four-digit number above 1000
I would like to see the hd channels mapped to the cablecards just like the mini box. were if you tune to 43 on a mini box you get the HD version, but if you use a calecard with a TiVo you would need tune to 1043 to get the hd version.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for providing this explanation. Now I understand! This would certainly make channel changes easier for our CableCARD subscribers. This would require that your CableCARD device be capable of Auto-Tuning to HD. Does TiVo offer such a function?

I wasn't able to find anything when I checked the TiVo Support site. Perhaps it would be best to contact TiVo directly.

Tecknowhelp,
TiVo's have an Auto-tune to HD feature? Andrew is wanting to be able to input the Standard definition channel number and have the TiVo automatically tune to the HD version of the channel where it's available.
**edit** Mini boxes and Advanced TV receivers have a setting allowing the user to set the equipment to auto-tune to HD.

ColleenD can Cox simulcast the non HD channels like the public access channel and local station sub channels in the HD tier that make easier for HD users when there is no HD feed of the channel?

On the surface this seems like a great idea, especially for an advanced user such as yourself. However, besides the fact that this wouldn't really be an optimal way to distribute bandwidth, doing so would likely cause more confusion for our customers. Mixing non-HD signals in our HD channel range would likely just drive unnecessary volume to our support avenues.
Thanks for the suggestion!
