Crickets. As has been the case in all my other attempts to A) find out why Cox is charging for "FREE" HD channels, B) why Cox charges $0 for the Plus programs if a TiVo or HTPC is used, and from $5-$10 depending on which Cox leased device is used, and why (according to their latest billing) they are requiring plus package purchase with the "Record 6" DVR lease. Oh well, the quest continues...

It's a little scary that Cox can't provide an answer to a simple question regarding what the increased fees are for. I mean one would HOPE that Cox didn't just arbitrarily increase fees just to see if people would pay. One would assume there was a reason. (I.E. increased costs, additional features). But the fact that they are silent seems they are still trying to determine for themselves what justification they can use for doing so.

Cox reps were rather vague to me on why I had to pay $10 more for the Record 6 tuner. Said it was for additional features but then admitted he didn't know what those features were, nor did he know when they would be announced/implemented/released. So does that mean we are pre-paying for some secret updated features?

The lack of clarification from Cox is very interesting.

i am in south san diego my install for the record 6 tuner (i have a 2 tuner now) and one other box is in the morning.  the cox rep said i would be paying 15 dollars more a month with installation fee spread over 3 months.
