FireTV/stick, Roku any closer to supporting them?

Is COX getting any closer to supporting these apps?

I just got back from Florida and a releative there has this running on their roku TV.   No cable box

just the cable companies app letting him watch everything he pays for.

This question by me and others have been brought up and I wonder why

COX is in the stone age when it comes to this type of technology?
