Bridge mode?

I have a Panoramic modem/router combo from Cox.  However, I bought a Linksys AC3000 tri-band router.  My question(s) are:

1)  Am I supposed to set the Cox modem/router to "bridge mode", if I intend for my Linksys to do the majority of the driving?  This is what I did currently, but internet is jittery.  Great one minute, with random lag spikes.

2)  If "bridge mode" is the correct way to go, what connection type am I supposed to use for my Linksys to talk the Cox router?  I used "Automatic DHCP", but I'm not sure if that is correct.

Any guidance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

This begs a third question:  do you now need the Panoramic router?

Great question, and one that I've been wondering about myself.  Perhaps I should outright buy a modem (with voice), to save rental of the Panoramic box?

If you subscribe to Cox Voice, Cox will freely issue the modem (DOCSIS & eMTA).
