Just learned the details on how to do this - the instructions in e-mails we are getting are insufficient. Setting up yahoo account via link will only get you to the browser-based e-mail platform. This is required as the first step. Once this step is done, use these setting to set up Yahoo server in Outlook: POP access settings and instructions for Yahoo Mail | Yahoo Help - SLN4724 Old passwords will work using web-based Yahoo platform, but they will not work using outlook! New password is required to link Yahoo platform with Outlook - this is done this way: Open Yahoo page, and under Top Right-side point to You name letter next to e-mail icon and select Account - Overview Select Security - top 3rd from the left side. In the middle on the right side select: Generate and manage app passwords. Under App name enter Outlook. Yahoo will generate loooong password - Copy save it, as this will be the only time you will see it!! Paste this new password to Server Settings inside Outlook. This will link the outlook with Yahoo ... I hope this helps - it took me one hour with designated Yahoo help for Cox transition - 1-866-562-7250 Thyer are very knowledgeable and patient!15Views0likes0CommentsOver charge by Cox
We have had MLB.com for years and pay $150/year for it. It can be accessed on our computer or on our television. Cox is now trying to double charge for it saying we requested extra innings (whatever that is) I filed a complaint to the Better Business Bureau because they wouldn't remove it. It's relatively easy... if you have an overcharge, don't let them get away with it.19Views0likes1CommentWARNING: Yahoo hides spam from third-party email apps
Yahoo Email filters out their idea of spam into a Yahoo spam folder and never makes it visible to third-party email apps such as Mac Mail or Thunderbird. I found this out the hard way when several critical emails did not arrive as expected, only to find them later in Yahoo's spam folder via their webmail interface. There is no way I've found to turn this off. You can supposedly train their spam filter by marking individual emails as "not spam", but this means you still have to login constantly to Yahoo and check the spam folder for legitimate email.38Views0likes1CommentDozens of outages within past few weeks. NW OKC
I’ve not had a reliable connection to the internet in weeks now. Dozens and dozens of text outage alerts, updates, and fix notifications, but internet always ends up going down again a few minutes to hours later. I don’t know what to do. I need internet for work, and all the other things we pay to have internet for, but I’m not getting the service I pay for. ATT doesn’t have fiber in my area, so that’s no use. Anyone tried Tmobile 5G for home internet?35Views0likes1CommentOutage
After thunderstorms rolled through our area yesterday Cox internet is still out going on 24 hours soon In a small area in Topeka Kansas on April 26, 2024. Getting their texts. Will be repaired soon but nothing! Just moved and had Cox Internet installed I know this area within a three or 4 mile range has dropped connections a lot. Cox needs to look into this area more!8Views0likes1CommentProblems with Email on Yahoo
I managed to complete the conversion to Yahoo (simple login and setting new password). Eventually I got it on my iPhone (had to add as a new account rather than change settings from cox.net servers). Then I got it to work for Thunderbird (missing clue in instructions was to use OAuth2). And I have used both the Yahoo email app for iPhone, and the web interface on my desktop. A few test emails from one account (I have 3) to the others, and it's looking pretty good. Then, I sent from gmail. Sometimes it never arrives, sometimes it goes to the Inbox, and sometimes it goes to Junk (iPhone mail) or Spam (Yahoo app) but nowhere on Thunderbird. A friend sent 2 emails from gmail, 1 to just 1 of my "new" cox.net accounts and it went to junk/spam. He sent the 2nd to all 3 "new" cox.net accounts it was fine. I had an important email sent to me (with a time limit, from the government!) this afternoon and it never showed up. Ideas? I looked for any filters, but gmail? ftb.ca.gov? Yahoo seems to want $5/month if you want to talk to them. Not happy at this point and may start the painful transition to gmail or other service. Or am I missing something?62Views0likes1CommentAwful!! Drops connection all the time!!
We keep getting awful service. We pay for a gig and service always drops, it stops while streaming even though cox says there is no problem, but a ton if people on nextdoor all say the same thing. I thought was our issue, but definitely not. The other thing is for last 4 months, we have been getting notices saying we are almost hitting our max data!! It is just 2 of us, and we have been here 2 years and haven't changed anything about what we do. I think cox is just trying to get us to upgrade. Cox is the biggest scam.40Views1like2CommentsWhy did my DVR stop recording certain episodes of shows set to series recording?
I have several television shows set to series recording, and recently noticed that I’m missing weeks of recordings. I have the TV shows The Voice, Abbot Elementary, etc set for series recording and it’s skipped 4 to 5 episodes and picked up weeks later after all of those missing recordings. When I attempt to play the recordings, they are only available on Peacock so I just was forced to pay for subscription to Peacock. If I want to watch my shows, why is that so when I pay for Cox Cable already and was able to record in the past? Help, I called Cox and was told that it’s something to do with the actual TV channel prohibiting me from recording, but I for Service and expect to be able to record so where’s my refund? lol help fix this13Views0likes2CommentsEMail not saving messages
As far as I can determine I am still with Cox email. Today two out of my six accounts stopped saving messages. I use Thunderbird for emails and the 'SENT' file is grayed out and no messages show. I get two error messages Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder due to network or file problems The current command did not succeed. The mail server for account xxxx@cox.net responded [TRYCREATE] Mailbox doesn't exist. When I log in to webmail.cox.net, I can see the old message but the newly sent message are not being saved. Four out of the six account are working OK15Views0likes1Comment
