Slow motion on remote control

Why is there not a slow motion access on a remote control I had better technology 15 years ago with a DVR than I do now

This is why we need to "unlock" the cable box.  Could you imagine the competitive features if Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc sold cable boxes?
