New Contour Box

I picked up my new Contour box at 10:00am this morning.  Attempted to hook it up and watch TV at 1230pm.  It is not working.   Was this too soon?  Does someone have to come out and climb the pole like before

The Contour box should register and authenticate itself with Cox.  Have you ever used the coax outlet on the wall for cable service before?

the "how-to" info that accompanies the new unit says, "can take a while" for setup.

when finished, you'll get a congratulations page plus asked login/pw for wifi!

depends, i kept getting a message on my tv, that my samsung couldn't connect to samsung for an update because no wifi.

i had to use the actual tv controller/settings/connections/??? to change from hdmi to wireless.for samsung updates.

i've heard some comments here that netflix + other entities need wifi.

Your Samsung...yes...but not Contour.  HDMI would have nothing to do with firmware updates for your Samsung.  Your Samsung would use a NIC.  If you have auto-updates enabled but no NIC configured, you'd get a connection prompt.  Samsung wouldn't access the manufacturer site through HDMI for updates.

perhaps i wasn't clear, that's exactly what i got!

contour popped a message that samsung tv couldn't be updated without wifi!!
