Why am I able to ping a private IP address (10.0.0.1) ?
Why am I able to ping a private IP address (10.0.0.1) that resides outside my home network.
That is a private ip space and should never be routed. It is 5 hops away from my network.
I have asked several people that have COX net and they can ping it also.

If you're getting a response, Cox probably configured their edge routers to just reply to pings from private addresses. I thought they'd just drop the packets...but I guess not.
