POE filter when canceling internet

Hi. I called to cancel my internet today. Shortly after, I get a service tech alert text telling me I have an appt.  Had no idea why so I chatted with customer service. They finally tell me it's to install a POE filter. Customer service had no idea why, only what was listed. So I researched POE filters, and to me, it appears this is something that goes with a new install?  I should add, I still have Cox Cable - nothing is changing with that plan. I simply canceled my internet service. It would seem to me a POE should have been installed a long time ago. What am I missing here?  For reference, I have regular cable lines, not fiber optic (not offered in my neighborhood)  I presumed if I canceled internet, it was simply cutting off the service/connection from the Cox offices. Thanks.

Hello. I’m sorry to hear you've cancelled services with Cox. We value your business and hope to assist you in the future.

A Point of Entry (POE) filter is installed at the Demarcation point (DMARC) of the home. This ensures that video shared on your devices stays within your home and is not viewable by neighbors.

A POE filter installation can be automatically generated for a few reasons:

1. When MoCA (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) is enabled on the account. MoCA allows for sharing digital content like music, photos, and videos between compatible devices in your home using your existing coaxial cables.

2. When MoCA is turned on in the home, it triggers a Service Request Order (SRO) to send a technician to place a filter at the DMARC.

3. Active Contour 1 customers requesting an Internet or Phone Easy Connect require a POE filter for each Cox modem.

The installation of a POE filter is typically a $0.00 charge.

Hope this information helps. If there is anything else we can assist with, please email us at Cox.Help@cox.com. Thank you!
