cox gigablast modem inferno?

so we recently upgrade to cox cox internet gigablast
everything seem to work fine
the only problem the modem is scorching hot & the typical smelling of electronic part overheating 
it's that normal?
We just don't want lose our home due a fire coming from your modem:-)

How is that normal...or even typical?  It's a fire hazard.  Unplug it, return it and warn the representative about it.  Cox needs to remove it from their inventory.
