Blocking Port 21 for Residential Connection

I know you’re trying to help, but I don’t consider, “Pay $130 more for the same speed and convenience” to be a solution.  It worked for a week, until they figure out I was running a server and started blocking it.  Then the rep lied about even having that ability when multiple articles and reps in this forum confirm they do….NOT HAPPY.

Well, it's not on the list of officially blocked ports, but it could be something local. What model modem do you have?

I know it isn't, which is even more infuriating.  But COX reps have confirmed in this forum that they block "servers" of any kind.  The fact it isn't on that list is why it worked for a week, again, until they saw I had "server" activity going on and blocked it.  It's not my NetGear Orbi, again, because it worked for a week and I didn't receive any notifications about it changing its settings, such as suddenly blocking ports.

Orbi is your router I think. What model modem do you have? Basically asking if it's a standalone modem or a combo. If stand alone, have you tried directly connecting to it with a computer through ethernet. If a combo, I wonder if Cox could be using Port 21 for remote management of some kind. Either way, running a server is against TOS so you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Any other ISPs in the area?

Using a residential account to run a server for a business is a violation of your "Residential Customer Service Agreement".   Customer Service Agreement | Cox Communications

The Cox rep who told you they can't block ports may not personally have the ability to block ports, but the company does.  You can appeal to Cox to change their mind, but I don't like your chances.  Good luck.

I think the best/easiest way to confirm that is to bypass the router and connect direct to the modem. Going through logs and/or websites to test isn't going to work all the time IMO.
