Arris TG1682G Firmware update not delivered

Other cox customers have received update firmware for their Arris TG1682G based on searching the forums, some as many as 4 months ago. Customer support said every TG1682G is on the same version (lol), he sent me a "new signal" that would "clear the router cache". And so the router rebooted and still on the same ol firmware from feb2018.

BOOTR: 4.2.0.45
SW_REV: 9.1.103BP
MODEL: TG1682G

Any idea when I will get the update?

Hello. Typically we do push new firmware out to all modems. However, sometimes a modem may not accept or receive the firmware update. I have sent a signal to your modem to update the firmware at this time. Please let us know if you continue to have any issues with the internet service. Thanks. -Allan Cox Support Forums Moderator.

well, can confirm my firmware updated! Thank you for the prompt action. While I wish I could be aware when my gateway doesn't accept a firmware update, I appreciate you sending it!

While it wasn’t smooth, it’s done. It seemed to start the 10 minute firmware update as soon as I reset the DNS override on the LAN settings tab. I was using google’s before 8.8.8.8. Could be coincidence but it was maybe 2 seconds after I hit ‘apply’ the TG1682G began the update. Thankfully, I still have the same options in the GUI as before that others had mentioned were gone like guest network (I disable), hsd, etc.

Prior I was having a tough time logging into the GUI at 192.168.0.1, from all browsers and wired and wireless connections, even after a hard reboot. A few hours later another hard reboot and I was able to login beyond the login screen. The stacktrace error java when finding my firmware version was erroring out the browsers, frustrating. Also, while this was going on “mywifi “ at cox.com wasn’t working. It worked before the update and after, but not with update pending (speculation). The Cox WiFi mobile app let me login using primary account but said I needed to ‘upgrade my equip’ before the fw update on iPad and android, and still after. Oh well, the GUI is better for me anyway ;). Thanks again.
