WPA key
Is it possible to change the WPA key or password for your modem? Mine is Netgear. If so please explain? Someone hacked into mine.

Yes you can change the WPA key for your router. You would need to login to the router to do so. I have a couple of links I can provide you, the first would give you instructions on how to login to your router. Go to http://router123.com to login to your gateway.
For instructions on changing the password, go to the following link - http://media.cox.com/support/print_media/internet/equipment/Netgear_CG3000D_User_Guide.pdf. Once you have the PDF open, scroll to page 11 and there are instructions there on how to enter the password information. I hope this information helps!

You typically cannot change the access to the MODEM portion of a device, what it sounds like is that you want to change the password for the WIRELESS portion of the modem / router / wireless AP device.
Yes it is possible and should be done as soon as possible. You should change the password for the router setup access AND the wireless AP. You should connect directly to the device via ethernet rather than wireless. So dig up an ethernet wire and connect it to a laptop or PC. Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1 (this SHOULD be the routers address). Look around, there should be a fairly clear option to change the router setup password, then find the wireless password.
You should then choose a better encryption than WEP, WPA2 personal is better. You will then have to change the password / encryption settings on each device that connects to it via wireless to the new settings.
