Windows Media Center and Cox Mini Box
I have been using Windows 8.1 Media Center and Hauppauge 950Q tuners to watch and record TV directly from the wall. Cox now says I must use a mini box to continue receiving TV content. The box is activated and I can watch channels on a HDTV. I cannot get Media Center to find any channels. Suggestions?

If your connecting the mini box to the tuner, then you need set your tuner to channel 3 or 4. Which ever the switch is set to on the back, AKA the channel your TV was on to watch the mini box. It won't find any channels though, because the mini box is only broadcasting 1(Channel 3 or 4) so you have to manually set the mini box to what ever channel you want to record.

I'm in a catch 22. I can't tune Media Center to channel 3 ( set up on mini box) until the 950Q tuner is set up. The tuner setup looks at all channels. It finds none. I would expect channel 3 to have content.

The 950Q device is looking for a clear QAM, but we only send an encrypted QAM.

That might be the problem. The device only seems to be capable of using NTSC on the analog tuner, not the digital. For your model, it's called "Analog TV". See page 4 of manual for more info. Hopefully this tuner isn't limited to 480i using the SD tuner.
