I have the latest wi-fi step up that I believe is currently available. Lately, I have noticed that the wi-fi signal gets dropped by different devices several times per day. For instance, today I was listening to Pandora while working out in my home. I was connected to Pandora by my iPhone 5S, connected to the internet via wi-fi. Within 15 minutes, the music stopped, and when I checked the phone the wi-fi signal was gone. I tried reconnecting by manually turning off wi-fi in settings, then turning it back on. It would not connect to my Home network, even though the signal was showing full strength. I was also able to see several other networks available that belong to my neighbors, however, they are secure, and therefore unavailable to me. This is thoroughly aggravating, as the iPad sitting right next to my phone had wi-fi connection established even though I had no apps open, so the only thing being used by wi-fi on the iPad were background functions; i.e., backups or app updates. Any ideas hoot correct this, or what, if anything, I am doing wrong?

What model router or gateway do you have? There is likely something you can change in the wireless settings but would need to know what your using first.

I too am seeing the same issue. I am specifically seeing it on my Samsung 47" smart TV. I will be watching something on Amazon Prime... and right in the middle of the show, my screen will freeze and the player will begin buffering. However, it will not ever start playing again. I have to exit out of my player and when I try to go back in, it reports that I do not have a network connection. I look at my settings on the TV and it shows that I am not even connected to the internet and that I have no IP address. If I wait a few minutes or if I turn off the TV and turn it back on, I get an IP address again and I am then able to watch my streaming TV shows. This seems to happen the most later in the day (usually around 4:30 pm to around 6:00 pm) so I am not sure if this has anything to do with network congestion or anything... but since I am getting disconnected from my router... I don't think that the network congestion has anything to do with it. I have the newest dual band Netgear DOCSIS 3.0 router that Cox provides. Whenever this happens, I do notice that all of my other devices on the network while still connected, are very sluggish during that time.

I think the solution to both your problems would be to drop the gateway and go with a router and stand alone modem. The Netgear gateways can't channel scan worth a ***, so if anyone else is on your wireless channel, you have problems. You can go in and change to a static channel, but then you have to scan to see which ones aren't used. Most modern routers can adjust, to a degree, to the surrounding wireless environment.

I have been having the same problems. Cox checked my modem and said I have 100MB to the box. I have a wireless router [cg300d] that only delivers 20-30 MBps, [even though it is an 80211.g/n router]. Cox says I have too many devices running.

By chance do you know what kind of wireless adapters the devices you're testing with have? Wireless-G devices will be limited to about 30Mbps or so and will pull down the connection for other devices while they are connected. I'd also suggest testing with a wired connection to see if that makes any difference.
