wifi router
is the linksys ea6900 router compatible with the dpq3212 cisco cox modem that i currently use and was using with linksys e2000 for past six years?

Yes, any router with a gigabit Ethernet WAN port should work. Cox's only requirement is with the modem, not the router.

Any current generation AC1200 or better wireless router is ideal, and try to connect to 5ghz as much as possible.
