Why is my OnDemand not updating shows that previously aired?

I am having issues with my onDemand not updating shows that have aired days ago.  This is happening on both my network shows and my premium shows that I pay extra every month for.  For example, I am trying to watch a show Wednesday that aired on Sunday on Showtime, and cannot. The episode has been released on showtimeanytime.com, but NOT on Cox onDemand.

Cox itself advertises that: "Shows are available in MyPrimetime the day after they premiere and remain available for the next 28 days."

This is clearly not happening.

I have called and had a hard reset done on my cable box. Problem is still not fixed.

Have others experienced this problem?  What is causing this?

Thanks in advance.

To what particular programs are you referring?

The show on Showtime is Masters of Sex - aired Sunday night, still not available Wednesday.   I can view it online on showtimeanytime after I log onto my online Cox account so the network has released it.

I also show this issue with network shows - the New Girl and MIndy Project both air Tuesday - not available on Wednesday night. Again, I can see it on fox.com if I log into my online Cox account so I know the network released it to cable subscribers.

Same with FX shows Sons of Anarchy.  Available next day on FXnetworks.com to Cox subscribers - not on my ONDemand box.

So I know the problem is not with the networks holding shows back.  I should be able to view these on my TV with my paid cable subscription next day.

I think you're making a mistake in assuming that because the network has the episode available on its website that it also has been "released" to VOD. There may/may not be a delay between the two.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Can you explain then why Cox itself advertises that "Shows are available in MyPrimetime the day after they premiere and remain available for the next 28 days?"  (See for example, this article on Cox's own website from just one month ago:  http://www.cox.com/residential/support/tv/article.cox?articleId=76ff5bc0-a569-11df-4745-000000000000).

I understand there may be a delay but I use the network website example to show that the networks aren't the problem.  They are promptly releasing their shows to the public that has subscribed to cable the day after they premiere.

Why is Cox not allowing those shows on demand "the day after they premiere" as stated on its own website?

We too are having this issue, specifically with the premiere of Chicago Fire that aired Tuesday night. It is now Thursday night and still unavailable. However, Chicago PD, which aired last night (Wednesday night) was available tonight.

Why yhe difference and more importantly, how can we view these shows reliably?

Again, the fact that they are available on their website does not mean that they have been made available to VOD.

Perhaps they've not been made available to VOD yet? As usual, Cox should add "if they are made available" to their VOD marketing claims.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing the same thing.  I hope someone official from Cox can answer our question.

I spent an hour with them on the phone yesterday, and got nothing but blaming the network.  I wish someone from Cox would take responsibility to their own advertising.

I'm sorry, Domino, I'm confused - are you a Cox representative?

I'm just trying to understand why my OnDemand is NOT behaving like Cox itself advertises it should.  That is not OK behavior.  If it is not being made available on VOD the day after the shows premiere, statements like that are false advertising.  And frankly, Cox needs to fix it.

This "the day after they premiere" thing is not some new-fangled guarantee.  Comcast has provided this to their customers for years, and when I used to have Cox previously I never experienced this problem before. If they can't guarantee this, then their OnDemand services can't compete with what else is available in the marketplace.

No. Never claimed I was. I'm just a lowly Cox customer.

I tend to agree, but Cox/AT&T/DirecTV, et. al., play fast and loose with the truth all of the time. ALWAYS read the fine print.

I completely agree with the above, but I refuse to settle for their behavior, and think they need to be called out on it if they are unable to deliver on their advertised promises.

This is not a matter of "fine print" - there is no fine print that says "*we interpret day after they premiere to mean whenever we feel like it."

If the fine print adds "if it is available" then you are wrong.

Please post again a URL for this "day after they premiere" promise. The last URL you gave led to a non relevant page.

Please look at the URL again:  http://www.cox.com/residential/support/tv/article.cox?articleId=76ff5bc0-a569-11df-4745-000000000000 - it clearly states this promise and is not "non relevant."  Before you call me wrong, I'd appreciate if you read the page more carefully.

MyPrimetime

Highly rated shows from ABC, NBC, and USA are available at no extra charge. Catch the episodes you missed from:

  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • Desperate Housewives
  • 30 Rock
  • Monk
  • And more...

Shows are available in MyPrimetime the day after they premiere and remain available for the next 28 days.

I am sure this is not the only place Cox advertises this.  If you can find "fine print" on this page, please point it out to me.

URL still was bad when I tried it. Where was that stuff from? It looks like an old Passport VOD page. And programs such as Desperate Housewives, 30 Rock, Monk ?? How old is this?

I suggest you contact Cox directly (cox.help@cox.com) with your question. I'm sure they'll tell you that they can't put it on VOD until they get it. So, either believe them or enlist an attorney to file a "false advertising" claim. [Good luck with that.]

I am absolutely having the very same problem! It's very annoying and I don't want to spend an hour on the phone with Cox, just to get nowhere. The latest episodes of the shows I regularly watch (and which were previously posted the NEXT day) are Ray Donovan, Masters of Sex (both Showtime) and *** on Wheels (AMC). I broke down this morning and have plugged my laptop into my TV so I could use Showtimeanytime.com and now I plan to use AMCTV.com to watch HOW before the newest episode airs tonight. So at this point these shows are all over a week overdue for On Demand. Before this, I tried to watch the season-enders of Rush and Satisfaction on USA and had to watch both of those online as well. What the ***! I have Saturday to catch up on shows and shouldn't have to resort to my own means when I pay Cox for this service. I understand your frustration completely!! I searched this forum to see if anyone else had my problem, so good to know I'm not the only one. Now what to do about it? DirecTV wants me back as a customer.

Long time subscriber and heavy dvr user. I gave up on On-Demand a long time ago because it was not reliable and it disabled FF. Hooked a big screen tv to a computer by HDMI and do all my On-Demand watching on http://mytvline.ch/. Works for me.
