Why doesn't Cox give a courtesy email to customers for scheduled maintenance?

I'm not sure of other states, but in AZ. Cox just disconnects it's customers without notice for scheduled maintenance. I have had enough of Cox just deciding when they are going to do maintenance and then just dumping customers internet when the time suits Cox. It's rather poor to just dump service from customers right in the middle of doing something. I generally try doing a modem/router reset thinking it is something on my end. I then call Cox and hear a recording "we are experiencing a service outage in your area and crews have been dispatched". The recording then states "service should be restored by 6 AM". The recorded message is designed to make customers think the outage was unforseen and that Cox is working on a repair. The real message should say "We are doing scheduled maintenance and your service will be interrupted until 6 AM. Maintenance is a necessary proceedure with most service providers. My issue is we the customer pay top dollar for Cox services, and we have a right to be informed of internet service disruptions from scheduled maintenance. Customers can at least plan ahead for the downtime instead of Cox just dumping them in the middle of what they are doing. It's an ongoing issue that has been brought to the attention of Cox, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. If I have an interuption that causes a late payment, Cox rewards me with a late fee. However when Cox interupts my paid internet unanounced to do maintenance, I'm apparently not worthy of advanced notice. I think it's nothing but arrogance to knowingly do this to customers without prior notice.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.  The maintenance window runs from midnight to 6am daily.  This is not to say there will be maintenance every evening necessarily however if you happen to be working on something particularly sensitive to a connection loss this may be useful information.
