Why do I have to have a receiver to view channels I pay for?

I have a TTv in my kitchen that i can only get up to channnel 62. I dont want a receiver on my counter and am not going to buy a new TV that will accept "the card"

Most digital channels are encrypted for the purpose of preventing unauthorized viewing.  Because of this, these channels do require the use of a device which can be authorized to decrypt the signal such as a cable box or cable card for TVs/devices equipped to use them.  Most cable ready TVs will still be able to access the basic analog channel line up without additional equipment.

How do you find out what channels are analog?

You can visit http://www.cox.com/channels to find out more about channel line ups.  Most of the TV Starter package channels you're subscribed to should be available on a direct to set TV.
