Why can't I record On-Demand programs (new issue)

I just discovered yesterday that I can't record On-demand programs on NBC and BBC America to a DVD. This always worked fine until yesterday, now it tells me it is copyrighted and can't be recorded. I went to the chat support and the Cox rep said that is all up to the network providers, not Cox. I find it odd that two different networks would suddenly put this protection on their shows on the same day. These On-demand programs have full commercials so I don't see why they suddenly don't allow recording. Does anyone have any further information about this? Thanks.

Thanks Tiffany. I've been recording on-demand programs for years with no problem since I had the service added to my package, like I say, it's as if it changed overnight. I don't record them for any nefarious purpose. In general it's so I can watch a program later on an older DVD player in my exercise room that isn't connected to Cox. And on occasion I record a show my sister has missed for some reason and let her watch it. Again, nothing terribly deceitful about that. At the end of most network shows now, the network says, "if you miss a program, watch it on CBS (or whatever) on-demand." They are clearly giving the shows away (with full commercials in most cases) so if they don't mind, why would Cox?
