I've never had problems with my Cox Internet, in fact I've always been pleased with the speeds I've gotten in the Preferred package. However, lately I've been streaming with my upload speed on Twitch.tv via a program called Open Broadcaster Software. I'm streaming with an wired ethernet connection and an upload speed of about 5-7 mbps according to speedtest.net.
The problem I'm having is that every hour or so, my stream will drop all of its frames as if my upload connection was shut off and sometimes I will be disconnected from continuing to stream. The weird part is that I'm not disconnecting to anything else on my laptop so I know the internet is cutting out, it's just the upload with that program. I only stream at 2 mbps and it still happens even if I switch to 1 mbps. What is going on here? I'm curious as to why I'm being cut off from using a stream of upload speed.
Any suggestions as to why are appreciated. Thank you!

Don't spend any money and don't listen to Cox when they try to tell you that the problem is on your end. The problem is with their signal. Mine drops out constantly and I like many others have spent a small fortune trying to fix a problem that wasn't mine to fix. There either needs to be some kind of real resolution to this, or there needs to be a legal remedy.

Thanks for the assurance that it isn't on my end. I have many reasons to believe they are cutting our connection, I've heard it from other streamers using Cox as well. Hopefully this gets resolved ASAP.

If your speeds tests are showing good results it's possible the problem isn't on your end or ours. I've seen some suggestions that adjusting the settings with the software might help a bit. If you continue to see problems some trace routes to the destination you're trying to stream to might help us understand better what's going on.

Don't know if this will help but my Motorola was slow and intermittently dropping the connection every 10 minutes or so. Tried everything I knew and then noticed that I have moved some boxes near [on it] and when I took them off the modem was very warm.
Put it in a well ventilated place, cooled off and since then [4 days] zero problems.
