My internet has been cutting out since April. I live in a duplex and when a new neighbor moved in and had his internet connected, mine stopped working. A tech came out. They tried to say it must be my modem but then did something outside that fixed it. Since then it cuts out often, but it is usually only down for 15-30 minutes. When I woke up this morning it was down. That was 10 hours ago. Cox troubleshooting didn't work. I'm ready to cancel my service. Prices keep going up and the service keeps getting worse. Here's what the info from my modem (Motorola SB5101) said:
Frequency 675000000 Hz
Signal To Noise Ratio 38.7 dB
Power Level 0.6 dBmV
Channel ID 0
Frequency 0 Hz
Power 55.0 dBmV
Log: (clearly the date is wrong)

The reported transmit power level of 55 is out of specification on the high end. The highest acceptable value for our network is 52 suggesting there is a transmit power level issue. This could be either a modem problem or an issue with the signal itself. Scheduling a service call to check for signal issues and/or testing with a known good modem is usually the best way to diagnose and resolve this kind of problem.
