So I got an email telling me my usage was over by a bout 7 Gb. I had the preferred tier. I called and upgraded to Premiere. Doing multiple tests across multiple target servers I can't seem to break the 30 Mbps barrier.
I have the Cisco DPQ3212 cable modem. I have a Belkin Play F7D4302 Wireless router. I am connected with the NIC cable. I have tried my connection directly from the cable modem and the router. There is no difference.
I understand that I am suppose to get 'up to' 50Mbps, but it would be nice to get more than just 5 more than the preferred tier (25 Mbps). My router states that it can handle 300Mbps throughput.
What can I do, or is there anything I can do to get closer to the advertised speeds?

Well the first thing they will tell you is there are lots more users on line so since it is not a parallel line but serial each users is reducing your MBPS.
If you don't buy into that they will tell you you may just be too far from the hub or since you have a router on line that is what is reducing your Mbps. This is but two of the excuse's you will receive.
Finally they came out to my house and replace the cable and for a couple days my speed was around the 15Mbps. I didn't have preiumn account but anyway since then my speed has been bouncing from 9Mbps to my 15 but averages around the 12Mbps.
But with your difference I would keep calling and each time ask for the boss who is in charge where your call ends up since it can be over in California or New york cause you sould bounce around your paid for speed.
Oh check this out too..>> http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-speed-test/
The other places you access will be further away from you so distance from them to you is a factor.
I hope this helps you to understand?
I will check back when I can remember to see if there is a reply..
The reason I am here today is I saw the forum link and came to check it out but I was here because the Louisiana Universal Service Fund went up 20 cents from last month and over the years it has gone from nickels and dimes to quarters and next will be dollars and it don't get cheaper either...
Nuff of my ranting

TheSouthernGentleman,
ChrisL (the forum moderator) fixed the problem pretty fast. I probably had 2 tech support calls and 1 chat that completely made me feel like I was talking to a robot. I guess next time i have a problem i'll come straight to the forums. The support from here was awesome. Im right at or above where I am suppose to be as far as speed goes now.

I am seeing a similar issue. Been running through hoops contacting various people, one individual managed to send a "message" to my modem and now I get up to 35Mbps (no more but it is fairly consistent at 35Mbps) despite being on the premiere package.

Everything looks like it's setup correctly on your account. Did somebody recently make a change or are you still seeing the same issue?

ChrisL,
I am still fine. Someone else was commenting on their own speeds. Im still good at 50Mbps (just tested). Thanks again for the quick response last time.

I've having the same problem. I was setup this week and signed up for the premier package (up to 50mbs)
But I have consistently been at 25-26mbs all week. My old service I had no issue going up to 40 and other then getting the new modem/router you guys provided I have not changed any of my hardware/software setup.
I have the netgear Cg3000d and its internal options are so simple, I can't find any setting that might be limiting me.
Could you take a quick look at my account to ensure nothing is off?
