Volume change??

Did something change recently?  The volume is now a lot lower than it used to be for some reason.  There also seem to be some changes in the guide settings (slide in now, and scrolling when highlighted).  Was there an upgrade or something that did this?  I now have to have my TV volume about twice as high as previously to get the same sound level.

There was an update to Trio (Contour) which caused the guide changes you mentioned, but it had no affect on audio that I'm aware of.

Hi Scaliguri,

Thanks for reaching out to us through the Cox Forums! As Domino mentioned, there was a recent Contour update. Has your volume returned to normal, or is it still too low? What kind of audio cable are you using from the cable box to the TV?

I bet if we keep asking questions we will figure this out together!

This is an older TV, so it is just analog audio output.  My guess is that the fixed volume level must have inadvertently changed when they did the update.  It isn't a big deal, but i wanted to make sure it wasn't my TV.

After recent firmware update I can no longer control the volume of the Cisco 8642.  I have RCA audio connection, but system is defaulting to the HDMI connection, which is, perhaps, not controllable.

How control DVR volume using the remote??

Thanks

Are you going RCA to a surround sound with HDMI for video? If the audio is output through HDMI try unplugging it, turn the cable box off then on and when you have audio via RCA plug HDMI back in. See page 12-13 of manual for more info.

Important Notes Regarding the HDMI Interface on the Set-Top
The HDMI interface automatically configures the audio output for a format supported by the television. Because not all
TVs support the Dolby Digital input, the HDMI interface may automatically select a 2-channel stereo audio confi guration
instead of Dolby Digital, which it carries over to the other digital audio outputs of the set-top. This prevents your home
theater system or Dolby Digital decoder from providing the full Dolby Digital surround-sound effect.

You can override this configuration by completing the following steps.
1. Press SETTINGS twice on the remote control to open the General Settings menu.
2. Press MOVE UP or MOVE DOWN to select the option Audio: Digital Out.
3. Press MOVE RIGHT to select Dolby Digital. This setting will send Dolby Digital audio to the HDMI, DIGITAL AUDIO
OUT, and OPTICAL AUDIO OUT connectors on the set-top.

Notes:
• If the TV is not Dolby Digital capable, it may not produce audio through its speakers when the Audio: Digital Out
setting on the set-top is set to Dolby Digital. You can either switch the Audio: Digital Out setting back to HDMI
when you are not using the home theater.

Worked - still have to use the old workaround - move audio from 'variable' to 'fixed', select, move audio from 'fixed' to 'variable', select, exit.

Many thanks!!!!
