Upgraded modem on Preferred Tier but slower speeds.
I recently updated my modem from a Motorolla SB6121 to a Cisco DPC3010. I was getting just over 100mbs with the old modem. I was told in order to get the 150mbs that the tier maxes out at, I would need to upgrade from a 4 channel modem to an 8 channel. I installed the new modem yesterday but I only get about 94mbs. The tech helping me install couldn't figure out why it was slower and so I have a service call set up a week from now. Anyone have any ideas on something I could try before then?

Are you by chance testing your speeds with a wired 10/100 Ethernet connection? Would it be possible to try connecting a PC with a gigabit Ethernet port directly to the modem and testing that way?

When you changed your modem did you use the new cable that came with it? The old one is probably a CAT 5 cable, and for speeds over 100 Mbps it should be a CAT 5e cable.
