Unwanted pop-up
I am using windows 7 and have a pop-up that I cannot receive. The pop-up saves that internet explorer has been disabled due to dangerous activity and I need to call Microsoft for a solution. I haven't called the number given yet because I suspect some kind of scam. Can anyone help?

That sounds like some type of malware or spyware? Can you provide a screen capture of the error or would you be able to copy and paste the contents of the pop-up into a message so we can see it. I will be happy to look into this for you, do not call the number provided until we've determined if this is legitimate or not.

Is this a pop up on Cox.net or a Cox website?

I've experienced the same thing. Its a virus. The need to call Microsoft doesn't go to Microsoft, it goes to a company that will fix the problem, for a fee. I haven't found a solution to this yet, still waiting for McAfee to come out with a fix.

It is a scam. Your computer is infected. Download, install and run Malwarebytes at https://www.malwarebytes.org/
Click Download...locate For Home...click Download Free Version.
It should remove the infection.

I agree with Bruce's suggestion. Download the free version of Malwarebytes and run a complete scan. Please let us know the results of the scan!
