TV conversion to all digital.

I was wondering about the all digital conversion and the mini box. Am I required to use the mini box or can I use another digital receiver? What about the possibility of using an xbox one w/ TV tuner? It downloads guide data and I believe has the ability to provide a MAC address... Or is this a Cox branded equipment only thing? Thanks

The Xbox One doesn't have a CableCARD slot, unfortunately, so it cannot be used in place of a cable box. How does your TV currently connect to Cox? Do you have a Cox digital receiver, or does the coax cable connect directly to your television?

Just curious, did you not see the 4 threads on the same subject right under yours?

You will need a receiver, cable card or a mini box. Only Cox branded.

OK. My TV is directly connected to the cable. The TV service to my unit is currently included in my rent. I don't plan on getting the mini box myself.

You probably want to contact your landlord then. See if they plan on paying for the mini boxes.

I did, after. When searching for support, the current posts were not displayed. It simply asked what my question was. I actually thought it would show my similar posts before posting it.

I will contact my landlord. A couple of things should happen. Either they provide boxes to make good on providing cable TV service as listed in the lease contract or drop service and lower the rent. At this point, I'm leaning toward dropping service.

Could you explain? When you first registered, it asked what your question was before showing you the forum? That might explain why there are so many people posting threads on repeat issue. Apologies.

I agree. The problem is I think the kind of account you have isn't eligible for the free mini box like normal accounts. That is because the account already gets a bulk discount. They may have a process written up for such a thing now, but when mini boxes first came out some had issues with it.
