Tired of Freeze Frames and Channels Temporarily Out of Service
This forum is my last resort before I slowly start to remove my cable services. Not sure when cox started going downhill, but at least 6 months ago both my tvs, which are both hooked up to a cable box, experienced freeze framing and buffering, especially during live events like football games. I changed boxes, had them manually send a signal to the box to boost the signal strength and was told I needed to have the line from the street into my house replaced. This was probably a few months ago. Some random guys showed up (it wasn't a cox cable truck) and they changed the cable outside my house. This didn't help. Another guy came out and looked around and said the problem is in the attic but he cant go up there and the lines are covered by insulation. At this time, most of my channels no longer come in or come in sporadically - all the encores, the sports channels like MLB network, all say they are Temporarily Out of Service. Anyway, the only reason I pay for these services is I'm too busy/lazy to get rid of them but that stops in the new year. If there is no explanation or fix for the lack of service I am receiving, I plan to just go to basic cable and return both boxes (sports don't freeze if connection is straight from the wall and on demand hardly works if I want to buy a movie anyway) after the New Year. I don't know if Cox changed their providers or their technology, but I know I didn't have these problems when I first moved into the house 3 years ago. Im open to new suggestions or causes/solutions to this problem but I think I have had enough of poor quality and service.

I'd hate for you to leave over something we should be able to fix. Sending signals to your box won't boost signal, only a field tech can make those kinds of adjustments. If the problem is occurring on on both TV's with boxes a technician would definitely need to be involved. It sounds like the cause may have been identified if the tech states that the problem is in the attic. Depending on where you live , the time of year and temperatures on any given day (particularly in summer) I can understand why you may have been told by the tech that he couldn't go into your attic. I'd like to investigate. Please email me at cox.help@cox.com with your account information and a reference to this thread so I can get started.
