Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Orange County

As a Cox customer in Orange County, CA, I'd like to know when TWC SportsNet will be available.  This is the only broadcast for LA Lakers, and the season begins in a few weeks.   I need to know so that I can make alternate plans for a TV provider if needed.

(I am not requesting a service, I am asking when it will be available)

I'm not sure where we are with nogotiating retransmission rights for this channel at this time.  I'll be sure to put a request in on your behalf.

What does Time Warner want? Will Cox charge the biggest Laker Fan base a premium amount just like HBO , Showtime and the rest of the premium channels?

TW wants all others (Cox, DirecTV, etc.) to pay $3.95 per subscriber. The others are saying "Uh...get real."

Indeed the costs being asked for rights to retransmit this channel are considerable.  We're working to reach a deal that is fair to all parties involved.

Still a stalemate:

How about ala carte?

Non-TWC Laker games:

10/21 vs. Sacramento 6:30pm PDT NBA Network

10/24 at Clippers 7:30pm PDT NBA Network

10/30 vs. Dallas 7:30pm PDT TNT

10/31 at Portland 7:30pm PDT NBA Network

11/2 vs. Clippers 7:30pm PDT ESPN

Enjoy...

So it looks like Cox is out of the running.  Time to look for another provider.

No LA Lakers is a deal breaker.  My neighbor has it and pays less.  Guess I'll be looking for a new provider for HDTV, phones and internet.  What a waste.  Any suggestions... thinking of VOIP ... ATT , DirecTV ?

When I called Cox to request the channel, I was basically told that they were tired of the calls from Lakers fans, that the TWC issue is at the bottom of their list of priorities and then challenged me to switch providers.

Needless to say I am going to eat the cancellation penalty (that they made me agree to when locking me into their reduced rates that still seem to increase by $10 - $15 dollars every month) and switch my providers this weekend, regardless of a potential resolution with TWC.

I called cox today to cancel my service and they didn't think twice about it when I mentioned it was because of the TWC situation which leads me to believe they aren't even close to a deal.  Oh well AT&T can have my  phone, Internet and cable dollars. At least Ill be able to watch the games.

Not saying if it's true or not (because I don't know.)

I think it is not fair that Cox is putting us in a Position that we cannot watch the Lakers Games! I live in Orange County I have no choice but to use Cox. I cant even switch to TWC. I dont want Dish or Direct TV. I paid $1200 for my TV in my bedroom and $200 to Cox every month for Cable, Phone and Internet. Now I cant even watch a Laker Game at any price. Cox is deciding what is good for me and what I can watch based on where I live. This is worse than the NBA lock out.  Cox Communications either doesn't care or thinks the Lakers are not important programming for their customers. We are customers............

Lakers say Cox Cable has reached an agreement to carry Time Warner Cable SportsNet. That leaves DirecTV and Dish as the big holdouts. I'd look for news / announcement on it tomorrow (Monday 11/5/2012) from Cox.
