Strange error code - 10.1.27.1 Non-Cox MoCa device...

I am still having problems getting my Coutour boxes networked together.  I am getting an error code on the main DVR that tech support couldn't answer.  It's 10.1.27.1 - non-Cox MoCA devices were detected on your network.  When I spoke to a tech person, they had no idea what this error was.  I don't know if this is affecting my networking, but it's a new error I've never seen.

Anyone have any ideas what this means exactly?  I'm going on almost a week and my boxes have not been networked.

Sounds like it's detecting another MoCA device, or at least a signal/current the receiver thinks is MoCA. Do you live in a single dwelling home? Apartment? Do you share lines with anyone else?

Single dwelling home and no, we don't share the line with anyone else.  I don't even know what a MoCA device is and neither did the tech person that I spoke to.  I'm not sure if THIS is the problem as far as my receivers not being able to communicate each other, but if I can't get the equipment to work properly, this is going to get very frustrating very quickly.

OK, I'm confused. Above, you complain about "my receivers not being able to communicate each other", but earlier you said "my boxes have not been networked." Do you have a WHDVR network or not? That's the only way your boxes will communicate. If you have a WHDVR network, who wired it? What are the model numbers of your DVRs/receiver.

BTW, a MoCA device is a receiver or DVR with MoCA WHDVR abilities. Or...a MoCA POE filter

MoCA is "Multimedia over Coax Alliance", it is basically Ethernet over Coax

What is the make and model of your cable modem, some of the newer ones can bridge the Ethernet to MoCA, if you have one of those, perhaps it is enabled.
The ARRIS SBG6782-AC modem/router combo is one such device.

Not likely, but possible, if a neighbor on your same pedestal (or pole) is using MoCA and does not have a MoCA POE filter at his tap, you could be getting a signal from them.

stenochick,

I will need to reset the equipment from here. When is the best time to do this?

Hi, Stephanie.  Thanks for your help - anytime is fine to reset the equipment.

Thanks!  Hopefully this will resolve it.  :)

YES I am supposed to have a whole-home DVR network (the Contour).   I have the 6 tuner as my main DVR box and all I wanted out of this whole thing is to be able to watch my recorded programs on a second TV while my husband is playing the playstation.  I had the 6-tuner by itself for a few months and just had Cox add the second HD receiver (the 2-tuner) last week.   All I know is that my 2-tuner Contour receiver has never communicated with the main DVR and vice versa (i.e., I can't get my DVR recordings to pull up on the 2-tuner and neither box recognize the other  - when I go into the network settings on the main DVR, it shows no other receivers on the network.  When I go into the settings on the 2-tuner receiver, it shows "receiver_1" , which is itself, i'm assuming.)  I have no idea who wired the whole home DVR network, I am assuming Cox did.  I ordered it, they came out and installed it and it's not been working the way it's supposed to.  I call tech support and they don't know what the error code means that I'm giving them and can't really give me any suggestions other than "there's a note on your account for a level-2 tech to take a look" - which is fine, but it doesn't exactly fix the problem.

I am not sure off the top of my head what the make and model numbers are, if remotely resetting it doesn't work, I will take a look at night and get the make and model numbers.  Thanks for your help.  :)

stenochick,

I've reset the client receiver. Please allow 10-15 minutes for it to reload. Let me know how it's working after the reset.

Thanks, Stephanie.  I won't be able to check it until I get home this evening, so I will post a reply to let you know.  Thanks again for your help.

Seems like we're getting there, but it's still not working correctly,  I am having a technician come out to take a look.  Both boxes now are visible on the network when I select "view DVR network" (they weren't showing up before) and the MoCA error is gone, but now I'm getting a new error - 10.1.27.2.  Tech support tried removing and then re-adding the receivers from my account to make sure it was all up to date on their end, remotely restarted them and the DVR network is still not pulling up on the 2nd receiver.  Hopefully a technician can get it figured out.   :)
