Has anyone actually been seeing the speed upgrade yet? I am on preferred and received an e-mail yesterday saying that my HSI had been upgraded to 50Mbps. However, I'm still only seeing 25Mbps on Speedtest.net. I'm in Kansas and was just curious if anyone was actually seeing the speed increase yet. I'm using a Motorola Surfboard SB6141 that is more than capable of that speed.

I thought it was in AZ only? Might want to check out this thread. Any chance RI will be getting the upgrade?

I think everyone will get it eventually, but I read this the other day: http://www.multichannel.com/news/technology/cox-kicks-speed-upgrades/382578
And it lists Kansas for July 2014.

I got the speed upgrade to 50mbps on July 17th, 2014, and I live in Topeka, Kansas, if that helps. Try rebooting your cable modem and see if that helps.

We had the speed upgrade here in AZ almost a year ago. Along with that, came an increase in price, it went from 62.99 to 67.99 about a year and a half ago, then to 73.99 for internet only on Premium tier maybe a year ago or a little less, Cox people can confirm the dates I suppose. My friend got bumped also with similar price increases on the Preferred tier. They just keep raising the prices, and the speed double may be quite useful for maybe 10% of their markets, but mostly (IN MY OPINION) this is just another marketing ploy to jack the prices as 90% of the users will hardly ever use anything past Preferred speeds, if that, yet they are getting their bills raised by 15% over less than a 2 year period. They had to do something to raise their prices and their profit margins without too many people complaining so they do it under the guise of the GREAT NEW SPEED BOOSTS! What else is new...stop feeding the pig and use an alternative if one is available in your area, cable costs way way too much. As more and more people are getting more and more savvy about how much they have been ripped off over the years for TV services, they are dumping TV services and using internet services or straight air antennas. Every cable company out there did this to themselves by being greedy and raping the American public, Thank You Very Much.
Become active in Net Neutrality support! Or it will get worse and worse. And may anyway.

I'm in Salina and haven't seen it yet. I recently upgraded my modem and went from an older Linksys CM100 DOCSIS 2.0 modem to a Motorola Surfboard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 modem. The fastest speed test I have gotten it around 24Mbps down. I contacted Cox through chat support and the reprovisioned my modem. Initially it just caused problems. My speed dropped to 5Mbps. I had to contact them again and they had to do it again to fix it, but I still only get about 22-24Mbps down. I'm thinking I need to use the phone support. I feel like the support person on chat never understands my issue or is just reading from a script.

ONCE I checked Speedtest.net and it said 110 mbs, it always said around 50 before. All the other times I checked either Speedtest.net or Cox's speedtest and it's back to 50-60, still fast enough but definitely NOT a doubling. I even got an email from Cox confirmation stating it had been doubled.
What I do notice now is about three or four seconds of lag when launching and large download, streaming media or checking the speed, prior to the "doubling" it only lagged for a second or two at most.
So much for progress :)

Note that if you do not have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem you will not get a speed upgrade. The older DOCSIS 2.0 modem's are capable of reliably handling any more speeds than what has already been allocated.

@Christ, it's a ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable modem only a few months old. I reset it a couple of times and only once saw more than the normal 50-60mbs on speed tests, the same as it used to report before the "doubling".
The initial lag is what really bugs me, even when streaming to my Roku I notice the progress bar just sits there for about 4 seconds then leaps all the way across and plays. It used to jump up a few times and then play. I am still getting good throughput beyond that, it just seems that it's glacial at first. Even speed tests sit at like .1 - .4 mb for about 4 or 5 seconds then roar up to 50 to 60, and ONCE like I said, above 100.

Testing is spotty, one test will show 100+ mps, another test will show 2 pr 3 mps. I've tried half a dozen speedtest apps from various sites. They are all over the map.
It has not caused any issues to date and I will just chalk it up to happenstance. I seem to get good throughput once it gets going.
