Showtime anytime and Contour tablet apps
I just had Contour installed with 3 units this week. I like every part of it. Thanks.
I do have 2 issues:
1) even though the ads clearly show usage of tablets in their ads, in reality, I now find out that both the Solution Centers and the Tech Support do not handle tablet issues for android tablets (i.e., Samsung 10.1). Even though I pay a premium for tech support a call to them was immediately turned back to a Solutions Center. So far, the tech there does not have an answer either. I am not an Apple donor and feel that an exclusive use of iPads is not conveyed well in your ads or your sales support staff. Will I be able to add a Contour menu and control to my tablet?
2) Showtime anytime. I see quite a bit of conversation about Cox supporting this service. I too, feel that I should be able to use it as a part of paying a monthly premium to COX for showtime. When will COX join with the other providers and pass the service along to your customers?

1. Looks like it should be coming soon. Found this on their main contour page: This seems to have been confirmed by a couple other sources. Wether they actually make that deadline is a entirely different matter.
*Available for Android tablets late 2013"
2. I think they are still trying to decide if it's worth the money based on the number of customer Cox has for Showtime. Also found this on Cox's Facebook, kind of old though.
"Cox Communications Hi Everyone, when trying to get rights to add new apps, both parties agree to keep the negotiations confidential until a contract has been secured. We will share any new information as soon as we receive updates. -Stephanie"

I'll answer these in reverse order, since I like to end on a positive note.
2. A subscription to Showtime on Cox does not include Showtime Anytime access, as we do not advertise access to that app, and they do not specify us as a participating provider. Your subscription to Showtime on Cox currently includes Showtime on live TV and On Demand.
Negotiating for access to streaming applications is just like negotiating access to a regular channel, and we don't comment on it. I certainly wouldn't rule out our gaining access to Showtime Anytime in the future, but for now we have to treat app requests just like channel requests, and your request has been submitted to our programming team.
1. We actually try quite hard to make it clear that the Contour app is currently iPad exclusive. On the current Contour homepage, http://contour.cox.com, the "Contour App" section specifies "A REVOLUTIONARY APP FOR YOUR IPAD" and under "Contour requirements" states "The app is compatible with iPad 2 or newer," and our help articles online also specify the requirements. As for how well our actual sales staff convey this when you speak to them, I couldn't say. It would really depend on who you talk to, but it's not for lack of training. I got the abbreviated tech support version of Contour sales training, and I certainly got that point.
That being said, everything I've seen and heard says we're on target to release the Android version of the Contour app before the end of the year.
