Question Regarding TV Economy Package and the need for a High Def Receiver
Do I need a cable box for this package? I currently have a High Def flat panel with a ATSC, 8-VSB, Clear-QAM tuner and the TV Starter package. I am seeing my local channels in high def. So is there a need for a high def receiver? Or I may also get a digital tuner for my HTPC and run the cable thru that so I can use the HTPC as a DVR.
On the Cox site is says : Watch TV in every room. Get Starter TV on every cable-connected TV in the house for no extra monthly charge and no equipment needed.

Hi Greg,
Because your TV has a QAM tuner, you do not need a Cox HD cable box to pick up HD television stations broadcast over-the-air. Connect your TV directly to the cable outlet with a coax cable. In the menu for your TV, run a channel scan (sometimes called auto-program, auto-scan, channel setup, or channel program) with the TV input set to Digital Cable.
Once the scan completes, your HD channels will be shown with a decimal place. For example, in my area, PBS is channel 15. PBS-HD is channel 15.1.
