Play all, alphabetizing, watched already, and conflicting series indicator features with Cox Advanced TV Plus Package and Trio DVR

I just upgraded to  Cox Advanced TV Plus Package and Trio am wondering about a few features.  Unfortunately, all the routes I went through with Cox have hit dead ends due to their poorly trained agents who keep either referring me to other support or simply don't know the answers.  So here we go.  Features that my old DVR had, but I can't find in my new one. How it worked in the old DVR will be in parenthesis:

  1. Play All option for multiple recordings of a series (selecting the show and hitting info).
  2. Alphabetizing the recorded programs list when the titles are grouped (this happened automatically if you grouped the recording list by title).
  3. Being able to tell if I watched a particular episode of a series already (the listing appeared dim in the recorded shows list).
  4. Being able to quickly tell if a program won't be recording due to a conflict (you could go into scheduled recordings and the program that wouldn't be recording had a "no" symbol  next to it and it was dimmed out).

Please give me insight on if they can be done and/or if I can submit feedback to have them added.  Thank you!

Hi JV,

Thanks for taking the time to post! Numbers 1-3 are great suggestions! Number 2 is a product enhancement that is currently in development. I'm not sure if numbers 1 and 3 are in development or not, so I've forwarded your suggestions to the technology product development team.

Trio/Whole-Home DVR is currently capable of suggestion number 4. When you try to schedule a recording in a time slot where both tuners of the DVR are already set to record different channels, Trio should give you a pop-up box alerting you to the recording conflict. We tested this repeatedly today and were unable to recreate a situation in which Trio did not provide the conflict alert pop-up message.

This is why you also have the option to set a recording priority for each series or show you set to record. Trio uses the priority list to choose what to record in the event of any conflict. In the event of a recording conflict, the title will show in the Missed Recording menu. I tend to put CBS shows higher on my priority list since CBS isn't yet available in My Primetime On Demand. (We are still negotiating with CBS for the rights to offer their programming in On Demand.)

Thanks for asking great questions! Let us know if there are other questions we can help answer.

The situation where it won't warn you is if you have 3 or more shows that you are recording the series of and they started at different points in the year, so there was no conflict when you programmed it. The first time you will see that it didn't record was afterward  under missed recordings. Of course, even this doesn't work sometimes, as last monday (10-1-12) I know on Monday there were 3 or more shows I would have recorded at 8, 9 and 10pm and the non recorded items are not in my missed recordings window.

Becky, thank you for forwarding my feedback to the appropriate place!

Slikmar and Becky. I should have elaborated on point 4.  It currently does warn me if there's a conflict and it works fine.  But per Slikmar's point, it doesn't really help for shows that are in the future (past how far the guide goes).  This can be problematic if the time and date of a recording fluctuates and may conflict with another show in a month or so.

The nice thing about the way the old system worked was that I could periodically go into Scheduled Recordings and simply see what was NOT going to record and then decide whether or not I wanted to cancel one conflicting show or the other.  As far as I can tell, if there's going to be a conflict in say a month from now, it will simply record the higher priority show(s) and I'll never have any way of knowing if a show is going to be skipped until it's too late.

Am I missing anything?

Thank you.

What about searching for new shows premiering? The standard DVR allows you to search for by Themes, them select Premier, which will show "new" shows airing for the first time. This is especially helpful at the start of seasons.

I see you can search by Keyword. Which fields are these keyword in (title, description?)

RE#4 above - It would be great if a show were not able to record on the specified DVR due a conflict, if Trio could automatically bump that recording to an additional DVR on the network, if available.
