Phone line for fax use only not working....
I only signed up for a phone line to be used as a fax line. It worked for the first 4 months (May-Aug 2011), but since then all I receive is a fast busy signal and the subsequent blinking light on the modem when the fax is hooked up. I have even changed faxes and modems, and it still does not work. I can hook a regular phone up to the modem, and it will work. However, I don't want a phone line, and I need a fax line. I have talked to customer support 2-3 times concerning this, and I have had a technicians look at it in my home. However, no one can figure it out. I am hooked directly to the modem from the fax, if this helps, and I am very close to dropping my phone line due to not being able to use it for a fax line. Surely someone in tech support can figure out a solution for me, and I would appreciate it if someone has ever encountered this and has any ideas. thanks....

If you're getting a dial tone on the line with a phone and able to dial out I would say it is most likely something with the fax machine itself. Have you checked with the manufacturer to find out if a special cable of any kind is required to connect it to the phone service. I have personally seen similar issues with some HP all in one devices that use special cables so that they can handle distinctive ring properly which also affects the machine's ability to use the line.

Dedicated fax lines and machines are getting to be obsolete. Sign up for an electronic fax service, and buy a scanner for your outbound faxes. I pay $5/month for "HelloFax.com" and they assigned me a dedicated number, and I can send or 50 pages per month, then 10 cents a page after that.
