There are quite a few things that can cause your internet to appear sluggish or slow. First off, what is the average speedtest result? Go to www.cox.com/residential/internet/speed-test.cox and run the test a few times, and then post your results.

Can you describe what happens when you open your internet browser? Does the browser itself open slowly? Do other programs on your computer seem to be moving slower than usual? What browser are you using? Clearing your browser cache can sometimes help: http://bit.ly/ManagePCbrowsers. Are you running any security software on your PC?

Are you physically connected to your modem or router with an ethernet cord, or are you connected via a wireless network? Wireless internet speed depends on many factors, including interference with other wireless devices, the number of simultaneously connected WiFi clients, distance and obstructions between you and the wireless router, and your WiFi network security type. A wired Ethernet connection always provides the fastest speeds.
