On Demand and VCRs
Are there any plans to let us record On Demand to VCR to time shift like we used to be able to do only one year ago? It’s very frustrating when watching shows you can’t fast forward through. I frequently only watch half a show. I’ll go back in a day or two to watch the rest. Half the time, it doesn’t recognize I already watched half the show and it makes me start from the beginning instead of from where I left off. I’m stuck because I can’t fast forward and don’t want to watch the first half of the show again. Being able to tape the last half of shows was helpful. Also, we get free Showtime this weekend but I don't have any time to watch. It would be nice to be able to tape a movie or two to watch later.

Most On Demand content is embedded with copyright codes that prevent the content from recording to a DVR or other media. Cable operators are bound by Copyright Protection laws and other broadcast rights as dictated by the networks and content owners who allow us to offer their content in our On Demand library. While I occasionally hear from a customer who has successfully recorded On Demand content, I think it is probably hit or miss. We're required to load content onto our On Demand servers in the exact format provided by the content owner.

Thanks for the quick and helpful answer.
Just curious . . . why did this change all of a sudden? I've been recording from On Demand for years but since last summer, I have been unable to.

Hi Cat,
This was not a recent change.. However, it is possible that the content providers /broadcasters changed the format of the content itself.
Thanks,
