I currently have the Contour Whole Home Record 6 DVR and 1 client.
I have guests that will be staying with me for about a month. I'd like to provide them with an HD DVR in their own room. It seems a self install of a client box is not an option (at least here in Southern CA) and requires a $60 install fee for a box that I only want to rent for a month so I'd like to know:
1. Are there any issues with renting an HD DVR for only a month?
2. Would I need to get the older Motorola HD DVR and if so would there be any problem using it with the existing networked boxes?

1. I don't see why not. Thats still one month of service you will be paying them. You might be charged activation fees or service change fees or something.
2. I would suggest getting a normal DVR and not a Contour box. That was you don't have to worry about setting with your current MoCA key and all that technical stuff. There isn't any technical conflict between the two technologies. In fact, when my aunt upgraded to Contour, she kept the original DVR in her daughters room because it had all the kids shows recorded on it. So I know for sure the old DVR and new DVR can work together.
