No WGN with Mini Boxes and some upper channels missing

The error code is 3.1.4. This happens with all five mini boxes. Every once in a while, we will get a few seconds of the channel before the error message comes back.  Also Ch. 16 is missing with same error code. Both channels will display the guide at the bottom telling what is supposed to be on. One of the TVs gets no TV Guide and it pixellates when changing channels. I have been told a tech can come out but I don't have the time to wait and two of the rooms are not available for them to access. I don't understand why they would have to check each TV and mini box if all the TVs are doing the same thing.

This afternoon three other channels went missing for a few hours on all TVs except for the one that we unhooked from the minibox. That one was fine and gets all channels it used to get. .

And to top it all off, I was going to be using my VCR to tape my handicapped daughter on the news this coming weekend and I have learned I can't do that.

AT&T is really looking good with Uverse right about now.

I have done the Channel Scan, I have unplugged, waited 30 seconds and plugged back in, I have had internet and phone reps send some kind of signal to the TVs and no change. Tonight right in the middle of ABC's The Middle, the picture went out, not just on all our TVs but my sister's an entire town away. Both of us got that same reference number. And Channel Scans will not change the channels that pixellate every time we change channels. Right now I have the TV on Ch. 23 (WGN) and have watched little dots come on and off for 30 minutes and then the error code come back on. Even the TV Guide itself disappears. How does a Channel Scan fix that?

According to moderator Chris, I won't be able to just hook my VCR to the box:

I wanted to share that the issue with recording has been identified and we are in the process of rolling out updates that should resolve the problem.  While I don't have all the details yet, we hope to have this completed by the end of December.

Hi Momnick8,

Once we have completed the rollout of updates to the mini box, you will be able to connect your VCR to a mini box and record your shows.

It is not "shows". It is my daughter who dances in a wheelchair who will be in the Nutcracker this weekend and on the News. Luckily digital is not complete in our area so for now, we unplug the mini box to record. In fact we can unplug the mini box to watch a lot of missing channels.

Cox lady came in a vehicle, not a Cox van, checks the connection at one box and says it must be the wiring and that is not what she does and a tech will need to come out. I asked if anyone was going to check the box outside and she says it is probably all the wiring in our walls. Again, our attic is not accessible due to a broken ladder and I am not paying for someone to work inside. Without the boxes, we get all the channels we used to get just fine. She asked if I wanted her to check the connection to all the boxes and I said, "No, none of the TVs get certain channels so I doubt every single connection is bad." Besides, the one connection she checked was not fixed so what could she do for the others? I stayed home for nothing and now have to stay home another morning.

Hi Momnick8,

Colleen just replied to your post on our Facebook page. We'd like to consolidate the conversation into either FB or Forums. I'm so sorry for all of the frustration with the mini boxes and this service call! Since Colleen has submitted a field escalation on your behalf and will follow up with you through Facebook, I'm going to close this thread. Please know we will get to the bottom of this for you!
