I installed a new modem. I can connect to the internet fine, but the phone line is dead now. I have unplugged and reset the modem and rebooted the computer and there was no change.

Diana,
Due to the telephony internal battery back-up simply unplugging the modem will not reset this modem. To reset the modem and restore dial tone, you will need to press the reset button on the back of the modem itself.
Please refer to the back of the modem next to the cable cord. You will see a very small, inverted button marked either reset or reboot (depending on the model). Take something small such as a toothpick or paperclip and gently press this button in and immediately release it.
The lights on the modem will all go off and begin to cycle until they all return. Please allow 5 minutes for the cycle to end prior to picking up the phone and checking for a dial tone.
If you need additional assistance, please let us know.
