This is about the third time I have moved in 7 years. This time trying to get Cox Internet has been one big head ache.
Sunday was the install. They gave me a refurb modem with dust still on it from another house.
I was doing great for about an hour. It sure was wonderful to get over 100mbps. It was short lived.
I made at least three calls on Sunday. Today I brought the modem back for a new one. That has not solved it.
I am used to mistakes in the billing but I have never had this much trouble keeping a reliable connection. And yes already one mistake in the billing. They are billing me for tv and I have said from get go I want internet only. One tech offered me a month of free basic cable for all of these problems. Is that why I am billed?
One tech came out today. He changed a wall connector and would not stay long enough so I could show him the upload bomb out and drop my net connection. How many times do I have to reset the modem per day?
AND I am already on the meter for a 2gig upload to my google drive that did not even complete. Should my 700 gig limit not be adjusted for failed uploads?
I tried to get a tech on the phone and offer to take a slower speed if it would make it more reliable. I was put on hold and hung up on.
Maybe a tech should remote in and look at my network stack (at&t would at least do that much). I have no idea what tunneling is. I also read in one forum that I should get rid of IPv6 because it is not used. I really do not want to do that. It sounds kind of drastic but I am desperate for solutions here.
All the tech would tell me today is that if his fix today did not work they could send "a bucket truck"? I have no idea what he means and when that would happen.
All I can tell you if anyone wants to help is that I am using Windows 7 Prof. I have a Dell XPS with ethernet, wifi, and blue tooth. I am not sure if the wi fi is interfering. I have mostly been turning it off. I disable it, as it is now disabled.
My bill is surely looking expensive now that I am on day 2 and can say I have had a total of 3 hours up time.
I do a lot of flight sim and had wanted this to do multi player flight sim. I also download tons of freeware addons that I like to store on google drive. So far no luck. I also use screen capture to make flight sim videos that I like to post to youtube. Those can be very big video files. Too bad I have not been able to do any of what I am paying for.

Oh yes and I forgot to mention. I am living in the exact same apartment complex that I used to live in
use the exact same coaxial wall jack in the very same room where I had good service for years.
The only problem I had last time was getting a room mate plan so I would have a separate bill from my room mate who already had service when I moved in. To get that done I had to call a local Congressman.

Cisco DPC3825 according to the company documentation, I should be able to leave user name and password blank and get into this router.
Failing that I found instructions to hold the reset button down for 30 seconds, remove power cord while continuing to hold power button another thirty seconds and then powering up modem again while holding reset for the last 30 seconds.
as per documentation that is supposed to reset user name and default.
Like everything else I have tried --- no dice

Can I change my name from Night mare? That was supposed to be a heading and not my screen name..
You might have something on the surge protector. The surge protector being used is very old.
I also have tried the following and finally got my full upload done.
netsh interface ipv6 isatap set state disabled
On the other hand, Teredo works practically anywhere with the help of Microsoft's Teredo server – your screenshot has a global IPv6 address, too. You can leave it on, since Windows will always prefer native IPv4 over Teredo-tunneled (and possibly slower) IPv6 connections; but if you really want to get rid of it, apply the following command:
netsh interface ipv6 set teredo disabled
If I lose my connection again, I will take your suggestion first thing. ie Shut everything down and move the cable modem from the surge protector strip and plug right into the wall.

I tried unplugging the cisco router from my surge protector. I now have it plugged right into the wall
Still I continue to lose my internet connection.

According to what I'm seeing from here your gateway isn't a Cisco? Are you using a router in addition to the device we supplied?

All that I am using is your provided router as follows
Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Data Gateway
I have a desktop with ethernet. I have a lap top that I tried uploading on once via ethernet cable and had the same problem. This makes me feel pretty sure the problem is not with the computer.
So to answer your question ---- I have a new Dell Xps and Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Data Gateway with no other equipment that I am using.
