I'm using a powerline 500 and I'm still capped at between 25-30 MBps, when I'm paying for a 50MBps plan. I've tried running a speed test connected directly to the modem and it's capped at 30 on there as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps we can help. I'd suggest visiting http://192.168.100.1 and posting the signal status results and modem logs (if available). There might be some useful info in there that'll help us understand what is going on.

I'm not sure what information you want from that address. If it's signal strength:

For some reason it just got worst. I did 5 speed tests in a row and each time it was between 8mbps and 15mbps.

I just tried sending a reset to the modem. Let's see if there is any change after it finishes restarting.

I just ran a speedtest a few times and I'm back up to 25-30mbps again. It's almost like something is blocking it from progressing past 30mbps. Could it be throttling or something else preventing it from reaching its full potential? Also, thank you for your help.

Rest assured we never throttle for any reason. Such practices create a poor customer experience and foster mistrust. Are you by chance testing your speeds on a wireless-G device?

Ah ok. I'm not sure how to tell what type of wireless I'm on. How do I go about checking that?

That will vary by device and is a bit beyond our ability to diagnose remotely. It might be easier to try connecting directly to the modem for starters and seeing what the Internet speed looks like that way. Just make sure you push the reset button on the modem when connecting a different device otherwise the connection won't work.

I won't be able to test this for awhile, but I will when I get a chance. I did test it last night directly from the modem and that's where I was getting the 25-30mbps, usually around 29.7 each time. I'm using a powerline adapter on my computer in my bedroom currently when testing, it's where I'm getting the 20-25mbps. Was I supposed to reset the modem before adding it? I unplugged the router/modem beforehand, but I never hit the reset button on the modem, because I remember last time it deleted all my settings and sent me back to square one and I had to re-do everything from scratch, so I was weary about that. I'll do it if you think that will help, because my wireless isn't the greatest in the house and this adapter is my best bet for internet access, so I'm trying to reach results from this mainly, if possible.

The procedure you decscribed doesn't sounds like testing directly to the modem as much as it does testing directly to the router. Ideally to get the best case result we would want to try with no powerline adapters or router connected. Whenever you plug a different device into the modem it has to be reset in order for the Internet to work again.

Do you mean 25-30MBps or Mbps?
MB = Megabyte = 8 Megabit .
Mb= Megabit

Mbps. I use speedtest.net, I think they only test in that format.

@ChrisL
Ok I just hooked my laptop up directly to the modem and it still got 26mbps. It was a hassle, but I moved the modem and all the parts needed into my bedroom and ran it directly in here plugged into my desktop and got 22mbps. I'm guessing it's a faulty modem? I know we just got this one about 6 months ago directly from you guys.
