how do you stop from getting the pop up requiring you to touch any button on the remote? Just started for us and it is a major annoyance.

When does this pop-up appear? When you haven't changed channels for ~3 hours? Does this occur on ALL channels?

So far it seems well less than an hour on any channel. Very poor design for no reson

Hmmm...IF it is on every channel, and IF it occurs after less than a hour on the same channel, exactly what does the pop-up say?

You get a black screen with a small message that says push any button to continue. I'll try to take a photo later.
It is liek a screensaver yet you have zero control over it. Cannot find anything in settings to control it.

Hi Capt601, It sounds like you're receiving a message that asks if you're still viewing the channel. Is that correct?

Yes, isn't that what the original lost said? How do turn it off? The timing should not be less than 1 hour, or even 4 hours? These pop ups were designed for tvs from 30'yearsnago, not a modern tv.

As I said this happens on switched channels. So your settings fix does nothing. Please remove this feature that does nothing except annoy a paying customer. Joe donee go about removing this feature.

Unfortunately there is no way to disable this feature without removing most of the channels that use it from the channel line up. By turning off channels that are not in use we can use that capacity to deliver other channels as requested.

Wow. Glad cox can work on providing a worse service for its customers. Is this the new Comcast?

I'm still a little concerned that you're seeing this happen in less than 4 hours and on any channel. Did you try the steps listed previously to disable the box's auto power off feature yet? A switched digital video channel should only be prompting for attention if left idle after 4 ours of inactivity and only if nobody else in your area is watching.

it happens at least once per hour. So obviously this was not tested by cox.

You have not yet stated what model number your box is. You have not yet stated what program guide you are using. You promised to provide a photo of what message you are receiving. You haven't. You haven't indicated what occurs AFTER you receive the message if you do nothing.
Power auto off is user adjustable, but shuts off power to the box. Contour has a HDD saving feature when in pause mode. This is NOT a screen saver. Contour does NOT have a screen saver. The SDV function will switch off of the SDV channel if you do not respond to the screen prompt, but only occurs after 4 hours of no remote input on a SDV channel.
IF your box IS acting the way you say, it is probably a circuit failure within the box. If, as you insist, this is a problem missed by Cox, I would think there would be more than your single complaint here. I sure haven't seen any.

Is it possible Cox decreased the max SDV idle time with the switch to all encryption? Did you happen to see this start around the time any cable ready TVs in your house went black?

Cisco explorer 8642HDC. Zero changes in our household with cable. Zero additions or subtractions to service. Zero calls to cox regarding anything regarding the service. Service worked fantastic before except this.
