Two questions,
1. Installed my new mini cable box and the hd channels come in fine. Problem is with the guide, it seems to be in 4 X 3 mode and so does not fill the entire screen. All of my channels completely fill the screen only happens when I switch to view the guide.
2. I have advanced cable with the whole home DVR how many mini cable boxes am I eligible for with the first year of charges waived?

Use your TV's "ZOOM" or "STRETCH" function to make your guide 16:9. The box only "stretches" channels. The guide is not a channel and is 4:3 for analog TVs (for which it was intended.) If you want a 16:9 guide, get a STB with Contour.

The User Guide shows a 16:9 IPG,so does the YouTube video.
You're sure it does not have a 16:9 IPG

I only had about 30 minutes to play with a sample (they aren't available in my area yet), and I could only get 16:9 video on channels - not on the guide. Perhaps with more time I would have found out how it was done. It was a 4:3 TV connected by coaxial. Perhaps that was the reason. But his channels were 16:9, so he must have been HDMI. Dunno...

I wish you had addressed his first question: Is the guide 4:3, 16:9, or switchable. If the latter, HOW?

The guide is letterboxed into a 4:3 window in the center of the 16:9 screen with dark bars on either side.....
The only video setting is select from 480i,480p,720p or 1080i. This box is connected via hdmi and 1080i out selected. I haven't found any other setting which may effect to guide or any other minibox graphic. The manual is misleading or there is a setting I can't find. Can someone from Cox help?

I'll forward a request to the engineering team in regards to the Mini Box- allowing 16:9 aspect ratio to be an available guide option.

I called support to see if they could give me a setting for a 16:9 guide. The first rep told my I had to set a Parental Lock pin to get the guide to display in 16:9. Played along, when that didn't work, she transferred me to another dept. The 2nd rep got a good chuckle out of the "pin fix" then tried to help. His documentation actually had reference to a guide aspect ratio setting located between "Banner duration" and "Audio & Video". But in reality there is no such setting, it doesn't exist on the box. Maybe a future release of the firmware????
