Mini box with windows 7 media center

I received my mini box today. I got media center to get a TV signal on channel 3. I can not get it to recognize the remote. I called to see what Brand name the mini box is as there is NO info on the box. I was told it was CISCO. This company was NOT listen on media center which had over 300 Brand names. WOW! Getting to the point. Will the mini box even work with windows 7 media center? Or is there any device I need to add for it to work?

What PC tuner are you currently using?
The Cox Mini box is not really going to work with a non-CableCARD PC Tuner.

Your best experience will be to exchange the Mini box for a CableCARD and purchase a CableCARD PC Tuner device:

  1. SiliconDust HD HomeRun Prime (Windows 7 or 8.1 Pro PC required for use with this device for Copy protected channels)
  2. Ceton InfiniTV (Windows 7 or 8.1 Pro PC required for use with this device for Copy protected channels)
  3. Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 (Windows 7 or 8.1 Pro PC required for use with this device for Copy protected channels)

What exactly is the issue? Getting the mini box remote to control the media center? Or getting your channels to show up on the media center through the mini box? Or both?

According to this thread, the code for the Evolution Mini box is 10084. However, this thread says its C4079. However I could not find anything on the Cisco Mini boxes. Which one do you have? Right now, according to this thread, the best work around is to buy a Harmony 350 universal remote for 40$.

The tuner is HD TV tuner. Media center gets the signal thru channel 3 but that is far as it goes. After doing more research, Bryan your are right. It would have been nice if Cox customer service people were educated more. If I knew the facts, I would not have wasted my time. If you are going to rent a product and charge $40 to install it, you should have all the facts.

I think it will still work with a mini box, just won't work well. You won't be able to do a channel scan like you normally would, because the mini box only output one channel at a time. Also make sure your using a tuner compatible with NTSC. Some HD tuners only use ATSC and QAM.
