Lost my 5Ghz wi fi

I recently had to get a new phone modem and had difficulty getting it to work. The service tech that came out ended up messing with pretty much everything single connection in the house and come to find out the new box was bad. But after he left I noticed that I lost my high frequency wi fi option from my internet modem and I don't know how to get it back. He was a sub contractor and had made calls back to the base office so I am not sure if they shut something off or what. Can you help?

Did the contractor replace the gateway with the same model?  What model is it?  It's possible the 5GHz band is shut off, you would have to go into the gateway setup, maybe at ip 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and check the WiFi setup.  The model number will help us give specific instructions.

I assume you need the model number to the internet model since the change of the phone modem shouldn't have affected my internet correct? It will probably be tomorrow when I reply with that number.

Yes, the internet gateway or your router if you have a separate internet modem & router.  Just to be compete, please post the model of the phone modem too.  Thanks.

Hi Btw1744,

It sounds like you have a modem for internet and a separate phone modem for your Cox Digital Telephone service. Do you have a router connected to your internet modem? If so, what brand and model?

Resync the internet modem and router by unplugging power from both devices. Plug the modem back in first, and give it 60 seconds to go through its boot cycle. Then plug the power to the router back in. If your router has lights indicating the status of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, are the status indicator lights green or amber? Are the status lights blinking or solid?
