Is there an easy way to skip all the channels not subscribed to?

It seems too time consuming to tune into each channel, make a note of those you can't see (wait for the message, click A, then tune next), then go to the guide's "skip list" feature and manually select those you can't tune in.

If you search for a program, and it is scheduled on a channel you're not subscribed to, Contour allows you to schedule it (even for series), tunes to that channel, then lists it to the "missed recordings". (!?)

Thanks

Simply go to http://ww2.cox.com/residential/tv/channel-lineup.cox (Make sure the location in the upper right is yours.) Make a list of the channel numbers that you subscribe to. Now, go to SETTINGS->CHANNELS->SET SKIPPED CHANNELS. Go down the list and "check" the channels you don't subscribe to.

Thanks for your reply. I thought there's an  easier way to do it.

Cox has this info, and it seems reasonable that most subscribers would want to tune in, browse, search, and record only those channels they hace access to.

Hopefully a moderator reads my post and makes a suggestion to the cox' development team.

Unfortunately, Cox has a vested interest in having you subscribe to MORE channel than you presently do. Seeing what you're missing just may cause you to subscribe, they reason. Remember the old adage "Out of sight; out of mind"  ?? Cox does. The fact that they allow a way to eliminate channels from the guide is surprising, IMO.

One way of beating your competition is to study what they're doing better than you, then match and exceed it. Making your customers unhappy by over advertising, or making their lives difficult is not good policy, so I can't believe they're doing it on purpose.

But the vast majority of Cox customers have no choice. Cox is their only choice. Look at the latest Contour update. Lots of flashy gimmicks, Pandora and Music Choice enhancements, but very few of their existing customer's complaints were addressed. It was designed to draw in new Contour customers, not to placate the existing ones.

I recently relocated, and here the association has a 5 year contract with cox for both tv and internet services. As I pay for them either way, I like them or not, I had to give up directv and verizon. Being a collective contract it's a little cheaper, but I experience a lot of frustration so far. The tv has less features, the contour 6x is cumbersome to use, there's less selection of shows. The internet connection drops all the time. So far I'm not happy with the customer service responsiveness either. As an example, today I received a call from a cox representative that wanted to confirm that I'm happy with my internet service (although I emailed them that my connection drops all the time), and to offer me tv service for $9 (although I already have cable). When the guy heard that I have troubles with my internet connection he gave me a local phone number to call; he didn't even offer to connect me.

I did take a look at your modem from this end and no obvious problems stand out.  Can you tell me if the issue is with just one device or multiple devices?  Also, how about wired vs wireless?

Thanks for your reply.

I have two computers connected by cable (not Wifi) to a Netgear modem/router, and when the connection is lost, is lost on both. So it's not a problem on my side. The local network continues to be up and running.

I experience connection loss several times a day, ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes. Depending on the application running at the connection loss time, the message is saying that it can't reach the desired internet address, the internet cable is not connected, I have only local network connection, or such.

One computer runs Vista, another XP.

Some times I cannot connect to any sites; other times I seem to be able to connect to a local site, keyt.com, but not to google, yahoo, or others.

Please help!

Creating an user profile and manually skipping all the channels I haven't subscribed to, as per the channel lineup chart, does the trick (as recommended by Domino, above). It is a little tedious, but it's worth the effort.
